Old Pixel Art

July 15, 2012 in Games, House of Tail, Website

8bit House of Tail pixel mockup

The original mock-up of House of Tail done a year or so ago.

Showing you so you’ll either really appreciate the new visual direction we’ve chosen (and will show you very soon!) or dream about the retro porn game that it could have been…

Web Game Title Reveal

July 8, 2012 in Games, House of Tail

We’ve found ourselves far enough into the next game to where we needed a title. After much yaffing about, we decided on:

“House of Tail”

Which you are more than welcome to use the abbreviation, “HoT”~

To clear up some of the confusion surrounding it:

  • It will be a web game where you run your own brothel of furry sex slaves.
  • The tone will be very light-hearted and silly.
  • No promises, but you might be able to make your own character to play as–maybe even have your character as a sex slave for other players to use.
  • And possibly a “top score” web page, because we’re absolutely crazy.

It will be very graphical, and shouldn’t require any plug-ins to play, so it’s taking us some time to work out the web-browser kinks. And another non-promise: we’re coding it in such a way where we could port it to the iPad. Maybe the pods and driods too, but the screens might be too tiny for it to play well.

Just imagine the Fupoco mobile gaming possibilities… XD

Forum Registration Fixed – Weird CG Error

April 27, 2012 in Common Grounds, Games, General, Website

Forum registration should be fixed. Turns out it was me mistyping exceptions to the server’s cache :B

The FAQ has been updated with info about an “error defining external function” in Common Grounds. We’ve heard from 2 people having this problem and it seems to be fairly rare, but very annoying. Please try the demo before buying, just to be on the safe side.

And it’s things like this that really bug us (zing) with the engine. To finish games within a reasonable time-frame, we much prefer licensing engines rather than making them. The extra cost is having to deal with errors that we sometimes have to rely on someone else to fix. Maybe we’re overreacting, but it’s super frustrating. Can see why so few ever give this a go, dang…

Thanks for understanding, and thanks to everyone who has enjoyed the game!

this week of april 2012

PROBLEM REGISTERING IN FORUMS
There is an issue where some people can not register on the forums. I’ve been able to repduce the error and will see what I can do.

COMMON GROUNDS ERROR: CAN NOT LOAD EXTERNAL FUNCTION
But first, I’m currently researching and fixing a couple of dll errors with Common Grounds. It seems to be a rare issue and sporadic, but I believe I am close to solving it.

DRAG AND DROP ISSUE
There’s another issue where after closing the game, you will lose the ability to drag and drop things in Windows 7. The quick fix is to press the ‘esc’ key while dragging to regain the ability.
___

I am very sorry if you have experienced any of these problems. Maybe I’m overreacting, but when just one person has an issue, it becomes a big deal to me. I really do appreciate those who let me know.

But I can say for sure that this will be the last time I use this engine for making PC games. I’ve sunk some money into it, and it can do html5 stuff, so I’ll try it once with that and DONE WITH IT! FOREVER!! More info on this later…

Common Grounds Released

March 13, 2012 in Common Grounds, Games

Except I’m taking it down for a while :X

It should be back up after I run the game one last time to make sure everything is working as it should.

The memory issue I thought I fixed was still there. It wasn’t as bad, but it was still there! UNACCEPTABLE!!! So I went crazy-like-a-fox on the code, pulled an all-nighter, and done. Even improved other things, like changing the program icon to a high-res / multi-sizable one.

I will be sending an email to those who have purchased a copy with the updated 1.3 version.

I can’t thank you enough. There were many times I secretly worried this was all silly and that nobody was that interested. And you proved me wrong. I won’t let you down! More games–let’s do this!!

Bug fixing nightmare pre release

March 4, 2012 in Common Grounds, Games

I’ve read about ‘crunch time’ for game developers. I felt like I’ve been living it for the past year, (off and on,) but it wasn’t until this weekend that I finally witnessed the complete terror of it all.

It goes something like this…

Common Grounds Website and Instruction Manual

February 23, 2012 in Common Grounds, Games

Finished (for the most part) with what I guess we’ll call version 3 of the site.

Common Ground’s homepage is now online! I uploaded the game’s manual too, which is worth checking out if you’re curious how the game will play.

All that’s left is to announce the official release! Stay tuned…

Wacky Porn Game 3D Issues

October 7, 2011 in Common Grounds, Games

or  “Things I’ve had to deal with while working on Common Grounds…”

Chief among them has been the 3D program, Anim8tor.

It’s not entirely bad, in fact I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn how to make 3D. It has the most simple and straight-forward user interface I have ever seen for this kind of software, and that’s saying something!

That said, there are certain issues…
