The ‘behind the scenes’ story goes something like this:

Last month our payment processor said they were going to suspend all adult accounts at the end of last month. A few days later they extended it to this month. No idea what was going on, but believe it or not, the real ‘choke point’ of selling porn online is securing banks to back online transactions. They all consider the following ‘high risk’: software, porn, and digital downloads. So our payment processor is a real bro for taking us in.

All in all, when people think porn = easy money online, it’s actually really crazy and messy under the covers XD

End of the story: disaster averted: we’ve been grandfathered-in. Sadly they won’t take in any more adult accounts, so it will be extremely difficult for new-comers. I’ll help them however I can, but man do I want to see more groups like us ;_;

I’ve been accused of making ‘moral games’ or ‘heavily thematic’ stuff, and they’re mostly right. I try to avoid heavy handed or preachy stuff, but my favorite moments in video games are always those parts that really move you, and I’m always excited to see other people share this^^

For me, off the top of my head, I’m a super nerd for those gaming moments like… in Super Metroid where your baby metroid saves your life at the end, gets me every time ;_;

Hm. I really tried to play down the whole closet-angle to the plot and focus on the relationships, but now you have me rethinking it. I love those kind of stories, partly because we all go through it in some way or another. Who cares if it seems overdone!

Will read it later maybe. I try and avoid drama unless absolutely necessary, and I don’t sense high levels of ill-will here. Sounded like an anonymous email I received–the person didn’t want a reply, but I suppose a general one is in order…

I don’t mind if people share the game with their friends, the whole word-of-mouth thing. What I do mind is people sharing it with strangers and whoever, giving copies to anyone and everyone. I know it’s an aspect of the business, but damn yall. The game was pirated within like a week after its initial release–I wasn’t expecting that to happen until the third or fourth game.

Most publicity is good publicity when starting out, and sales are a lot better than what we expected, so I can’t get too mad. It used to easily send me into the fury too, so I know how you feel 🙂

You run your own servers? That’s pretty cool.

So far as help, I’ll keep you in mind. The biggest trouble I’ve been having is dealing with payment processors. It’s an issue I think not many people know about, so far as how hard it is to sell digital erotic things online.

I’ll see if I can write something up about this on the main journal, but I don’t like boring people with non-game stuff.

I was unaware of the influence you had on Whry until recently. Curious if any shows in the game. For me, it was playing a lot of Japanese dating sims, thinking they were easy to make, and realizing not so much XD

Originally wanted to do a more African Wild Dog look, but their pattern is a bit too wild and patchy. Love the face pattern though, will probably do it for real next time.

And sorry about that fangasm, you are quite the prolific and awesome author. Side-story of when I first discovered you: When I inserted Ben’s carpe diem gag, Whry told me about the comic of the same name, and I almost removed it as I didn’t want to step on anyone’s material, even just a phrase.

I have, and he tried registering to reply here, but came across this error people have been mentioning when registering.

On the up side, now I have a test case to fix it.

Would have to ask Whry. He’s been pretty busy with work, so I can’t say. I do know he’ll be excited to see this though!

A review would be cool. It has been weird asking people if I can quote them for the game’s page, since it’s been mostly in emails and you can’t really link to emails to establish credibility. But I figured something is better than nothing.

I think I fixed it. For those interested, it was a 2-parter:

– on first-time login, it now redirects to the profile page instead of the ‘activation page’ (were it asked you for the code you already used, which was hidden in the activation url sent to your email.)

– i mistyped the exceptions to the cache for the forum, meaning after the first time *anyone* viewed a url, it saved it and wouldn’t run the dynamic code therein anymore

hopefully it’s working better now XD
