Please Read – Windows 7 Users

March 15, 2012 in Common Grounds, Games

I will be out of town from March 16-19, so please forgive me if I’m slow to respond to emails.

UPDATE 1: Seems to be as simple as requesting admin privileges. Checking…

UPDATE 2: Also noticed daily visit animations were no longer animating. Fixed.

UPDATE 3: Resent the game to everyone and explained what happened.

What’s updated:

– The installer now works with windows 7 64bit systems!
– The daily visit animations now animate again

Explanation:

The old installer would not request the proper user access control when installing, so the game ended up not having permission to read and write its own files. It now requests admin-level access, meaning you will likely see an ‘Is it okay to run this’ message when you re-install on Win7 & Vista.

Harmless issue:

There is a known issue in Windows 7 64bit systems when you quit the game using a button from within the game: you will see a message saying ‘unexpected end’ or the likes. You will only see it the first time you do this and never again. This is due to the game being built with a 32 bit engine and after the first close, Windows will realize this and assign it the proper compatibility.

If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks again!

***IMPORTANT***

Dear Win7 users,

It came to my attention last night that there are issues with the game running on windows 7. Testing, I’ve so far noticed: the installer fails to install into the default program-files directory, and a dumb error message ‘this program ended unexpectedly’ when you click the ‘quit’ button in the game (haha).

I will be frantically working on a fix and update this entry as I make progress.

I am terribly sorry. So far, nobody has reported issues about this, even people using windows 7, but it’s no excuse. If you’ve purchased the game and have had trouble, please-please-PLEASE email support@fupoco.com or use the contact us form to let me know. I want to do whatever I can to make things right.

I will send an email to those who have purchased the game sometime today about the situation, hopefully with an updated installer.
