Avanti, are you sure you want an rpg and not just an exploration game? Either way, I wouldn’t be able to point out any modern furry games, I’m totally out of touch.
If you went down the path of making your own, then that’s great and good luck. You also don’t have to have combat at all. You don’t even have to have items. You don’t even have to have dialogue! Removing such things won’t necessarily make anything easier, though.

I’ve decided to stop trying to make my laptop suitable for running HoT. This is mainly because I want to have the glitch art, I’m not supposed to be playing games on this laptop in the first place, and I can play it on my desktop computer.
Thank you for trying to help me, though, Kaive and Avanti and Whry and Firewolfe.

Even if the issue can’t be resolved, if you know what’s going on to make the glitch images, this could turn into a good source of glitch images. There should be a program somewhere that does this kind of thing by now. Maybe an emulator could..? Getting sidetracked.

Yep, toughbook. Proving to be not so tough recently.
    Processor: Intel (R) Pentium (R) M processor 1300MHz
    Memory: 1270MB RAM
    DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Page file: 506MB used, 1759MB available
    Name: Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller
    Approx. Total Memory: 64.0 MB

    I’m gonna assume 64mb isn’t enough.

I can’t even recall what the other versions of XP were like compared to SP3. This computer came with xp sp3 and doesn’t even have a cd drive, so the idea of trying to change what operating system I’m using is not appealing. Anyway, I’ve been satisfied with it so far.

I’ve just gone through a few reinstalls and several restarts. Still having same issue. One of the reinstalls was using the installer that was from another computer that had no such issues with the game. Also redownloaded installer. I don’t really know how these things work, but I’ve got pretty much the same software setup on my other computer that experienced no playability issues. I can post hardware details if that is a possible cause.
I’ve also tried messing with the compatibility options for the properties of the game file. Didn’t actually do anything other than change the glitch pattern and crash speed. The fade white screen does still have the HoT logo in it, couldn’t see it before because the ‘windows crashes your programs’ window would popup over it before I could see it. I’ve also got a screencap that makes it look a lot more like I’ve got some corrupt game data: http://s1290.photobucket.com/user/hey_its_smoxy/media/hot_debug/secretloadscreen2_zps89276143.png.html
It’s probably not related, but here’s what happens when I open and close the game as fast as I can to try to see more glitch art: http://s1290.photobucket.com/user/hey_its_smoxy/media/hot_debug/myfault_zpsdacb8f4a.png.html

Using windows xp professional service pack 3, version 6/21. I found the secret game load graphics? http://s1290.photobucket.com/user/hey_its_smoxy/media/hot_debug/secretloadscreen_zps272bab0c.png.html Looks neat, comes in a variety of color patterns. This happens for about 2 seconds when opening the program, before any of the proper game graphics load. It may have to do with the more major issue of the game crashing every time I try to play it. I can get the main menu parts working fine, but as soon as I click a button to start the actual game, windows forces it to quit. Specifically, when clicking the confirmation (“Sure…”) for hard mode start, the screen will fade white and crash instead of loading the brothel map or any of the other main game graphics.

I don’t think the prostitution aspect is currently represented as a kink. It could be one, certainly, as anything can be used as a kink. Getting rough during sex is presented as more of a kink in this game.
Also, since when is prostitution a weird kink? It’s a classic vocation.

I use your character, Impy/Veerano. It may not be a great character in the current game, but I’d rather utilize the character of someone who’s indirectly provided me with amusement than some of the other characters that I will not describe.
Isn’t your dislike of prostitution reflected in the low obedience stat anyway? You turn away most customers. The ones you accept may not be amazed by the performance, but they still pay for the service and even come back for more.

I was not looking forward to the MLP characters of HoT, but after playing it, they were in my top 10 in the game. If they were straight rips off the show, that’d be a little strange, but I liked them as the parodies they were.

Still having an issue involving the refreshing of the game page. The background is gone when I load a save after refreshing the page: http://s1290.photobucket.com/user/hey_its_smoxy/media/hot_debug/03_zpsf44cee8e.png.html
From this state, I can no longer go to town (or if I can, I can’t tell because I don’t see anything). I can recall the character from where they are at this point. When I click Start, the background will reappear with a shake, graphics go as normal, then disappear with a shake, taking the character icon with them. I can’t recall the character after that point. I can continue progressing time and they’re still counted as being where they were, since they are still there..during the action graphics, at least. I don’t think it’d be worth the effort to try to make a video of the incident, so here is a pic with ovals around the areas that do not shake: http://s1290.photobucket.com/user/hey_its_smoxy/media/hot_debug/04_zps320646a8.png.html It also shows the graphics during their visible moments. Also, the Goal and Item screens have shaking in the same space and seem to operate normally otherwise. The item screen recognizes that I have a character in employ.

The save/load issue is the same as it was for me.

Having a bit of trouble with my save file. I’m playing online, firefox 21.0, on windows 7 home premium.
Started game on Steady mode, chose murguy as starter. Saved and quit before doing anything else. Loaded up save file, have victoria as my starter now, seems to be no other difference. Save, quit, reload, now I’ve got no characters: http://s1290.photobucket.com/user/hey_its_smoxy/media/hot_debug/01_zps006c3c99.png.html
No limit on days like this? Got to 100 days: http://s1290.photobucket.com/user/hey_its_smoxy/media/hot_debug/02_zpsf75b6c5b.png.html
Game crashes (specificially, it stops responding and I have to refresh the page) when I try to look at the goal.
Tried saving and reloading my 100 day save, didn’t work; had days and cash reset to zero like that first screenshot. Actually, there was a crash/refresh via goals button between the saving and reloading of that save. And that seems to make the difference. Using this no characters file, it seems to reset the day to the first day regardless of when I save or how I go about loading. If I do not refresh the page (crash or no crash), it remembers how much money I had in my save.

Trying to recreate incident…I’m still having the switch of starting character happen as described, but the characters disappearing is just happening when I refresh the page after saving.
Same happens on hard mode, except no character switching. Also not getting save file to register any progress I’m making, just getting sent back to the start of the game when I load. Checking that with normal mode..same there. Huh. Same stuff on easy mode.

tldr: Saves aren’t saving anything for me other than what mode I’m on.

Thank you, I’ll be looking into them.

Len, you say horror-dating sims exist?! Could you provide a link or title? I’ve got to give this a try.

    @Allen Ban
I came close to making a post similar to yours. I decided I would have been too harsh and kept to myself. You’re a lot more polite than I would’ve been.
I don’t think I can agree with everything you said, but it doesn’t really matter because I’ll continue keeping to myself on this one.

    @Sparky
Anybody on these forums is likely already a fan. The reasons we like the game don’t even really matter. It’s normal to tell others about cool stuff you find. I think the whole word-of-mouth thing works without there being a person trying to rally the troops. If you must do this, wouldn’t it make more sense to do it somewhere else?
I don’t think Allen Ban is trying to argue with you. Your behavior is making -me- want to start an argument, if that helps.
A person who does not agree with what others are saying should not be expected to keep quiet. This happens too much and it is a much worse thing than you seem to realize.
