Yeah- as of right now we do not have any sound in the game, it is being worked on, but will probably be one of the last parts to be fully implemented. Sound is a lot easier to get right in a game when you have all the other parts in place.

September 6, 2013 at 9:39 am #2200I think it will be a while before we can open up a 2nd round for characters- right now we are chugging along on getting the story mode wrapped up. Our plan is to add some more characters with story mode and then, if we still have room for more, open up the 2nd round of requests.
Thanks for asking and definitely not being a bother.
June 27, 2013 at 12:14 pm #2057I am actually gonna suggest doing a re-install of HoT. None of the graphics that I know of would look like that screen shot so it makes me wonder if the sprite sheet got corrupted?
June 5, 2013 at 4:22 pm #1924Len, would you still be interested in your contest? I may have a few ideas to throw your way.
May 31, 2013 at 1:39 pm #1795Hopefully things will be picking up around here with HOT coming out. Hopefully will be on here a bit more now that we have taken care of some other issues as well.
December 14, 2012 at 10:40 pm #1435I can say that Kaive did not attend USC, and we at Fupoco can neither confirm nor deny any rumors that the exact location of the campus is USC. It is near a certain house for small yappy dogs though, and I must admit that there was a certain amount of perverse pleasure found in riding a cockshuttle around campus.
But officially, it is based off of the many and varied college’s that are around the united states and is supposed to be generically that.
That’s our story and we’re sticking to it.

May 25, 2012 at 12:23 pm #787@closetcase: Not a prob- It’s actually really neat that people are seeing so many facets of the same character. I think it says that they were developed just the right amount for a game. I know it was something that I had a big problem with when Kaive and I talked through the story, since I was much more used to writing from a literary standpoint, not for games. I know I wanted to spend more time developing the characters, giving their back-story and stuff of the like, but in a game a great deal of that can be handled without dialogue, and in a game like common grounds. Well, too much character development can make the game less playable, since then you don’t feel like there is actually anything in the game for you to do, you’re really just clicking a mouse to turn pages.
The fact that you feel like you can relate to AJ in a personal way, even when this was really not even something we thought about in his development, tells me that his characterization is spot-on. There was enough there for folks to emphasize with him, but not so much detail that it makes him too defined for someone to project themselves into.
TL:DR I think it’s awesome that you like AJ, especially for traits that we would have never considered in him, and for letting us know what you see in these guys.
May 21, 2012 at 11:17 pm #780See, and I though AJ was just supposed to be AJ, not really a closet case, but more of he never really thought things out to their logical conclusion. Of course, this was also back around rewrite number 2 maybe? What I liked about him was his whole- “so, if I like a guy who likes guys, and we both like each other- does that make us gay? Ok I’m cool with that.” attitude. I think that still came through, even if writing for a game is so much different than writing stories. Especially when you have to think about having multiple characters and how they all interact. I think I almost killed Kaive the first couple of times we hashed through the storylines trying to get the characters right while still letting the game actually have gameplay and not just be a click and read adventure. :p
April 25, 2012 at 12:44 am #746Actually, Roger was the most generic of all the characters, and gave us the most trouble pinning down species-wise. His original design was a Lemur and as for his mane, he keeps it trimmed short to look younger.
April 25, 2012 at 12:37 am #745This is awkward.
So- Kaive tells me that Graveyard Greg is posting on the forums, and of course I’m like- oh that’s nice dear- totally figuring it was someone pulling his leg, or him pulling mine. A little backstory here, one of my first encounters with furry was ASB, followed closely by Carpe Diem and The Class Menagerie. So, excuse me while I fanboy for a moment.Graveyard Greg is here, posting in our forums and wants to read my stuff. (insert girly squealing here)
So with that out of the way, let me say that I am honored when someone is interested in my stories at all, but to have one of the folks who helped get me interested into writing furry fiction, well- you sir have made my day.
So now I just have to post Andrew’s story somewhere. Of course, this should be the easy part. I already have a sofurry account, just need to dust it off and put it to use. Andrew’s story was shelved when we decided to put him in Common Grounds, but it was mostly complete. Just needed to give it a good proofreading and final check.
Any good storyteller can fill in the blanks from here- of course I can’t find the thing now that I’m actually looking for it, and for a raccoon, this is highly frustrating, I can find bits and pieces to computers from 15 years ago, just about any shiny you could ask for, but the one document that I KNOW I have somewhere, well, I managed to find a few copies of the original outlines, including one of the very first drafts where Andrew was a snow leopard instead of an arctic fox, and it’s not like I’ve forgotten Andrew, he was definitely one of my favorites to go into common grounds but for the time being his original story is lost.
Having said that, I’m not too disappointed since looking back at it, it was one of my first attempts at furry writing, a fanfiction based on Associated Student Bodies. While I still enjoy fanfictions, I believe I can do better with this story. So for right now, I am reworking it slightly so that it will actually fit into the Common Grounds canon, and since I have a chance to rework it, you will also get to see how Andrew knows Surfer Fox. And yes, Surfer Fox’s story is coming up as well, once Kaive and I figure out what I can put up and what we need to keep back for the next Common Grounds.
