Text issues in Common Grounds 1.4
February 17, 2013 in Common Grounds, Games, General
Hi!
Just letting everyone know we addressed some text glitches some users were experiencing. And if you’re missing a XINPUT1_3 dll, the game should supply it so you don’t have to update DirectX.
This soft update has been uploaded, so you just need to download it again if either of those issues have bugged you.
And now that this is finished (we hope), expect much House of Tail progress reports and an impending release…
I have a feeling if I do a playthrough and find more errors, you might get rather annoyed? 😛
Anyway, hooray for bug removal. Onward! X3
But wait, how do I get this soft update?
I’d only be annoyed at myself for letting those errors slip by 🙂
If you recently received the download link, simply download it again or ask us to reactivate and resend it.
I hate to tell you this, but I’ve been getting some odd errors at random points in the game. The game will suddenly stop responding while loading a new scene, at which point Windows will “gather information for error reporting.” After looking at the task manager, I find that the game has ended up consuming 1.8 GB of RAM and has (quite obviously) ceased to function. All I can say is thank you for putting in autosave, because I can reload the game at the last autosaved position and it will continue to the next scene without error.
I will be checking the error log soon and will report when I have more information.
The error log gives no indication on what really went wrong, unfortunately. This doesn’t seem like a memory leak, however, because the consumption doesn’t continue to rise indefinitely. If it would be any help, I’ll give you my computer’s specifications:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1
CPU: Intel Pentium T4300 Dual-Core @2.10 GHz
RAM: 4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @332 MHz
GFX: Intel GMA 4500M
Hard Drive: Samsung HM320II 298GB SATA
Audio: Conexant Pebble HD SmartAudio
If you need any more, just ask.
Hmm… I’m not sure what’s going on here, but please accept my apologizes just in case.
If there is an error within the game, it should throw its own message (not from Windows) and write a file to its install directory named “game_errors.log” which you can open with any text editor.
Outside of that, we did test heavily on a desktop computer similar to yours, except it only had 2GB of ram. I’d love to figure this out, but my guess is its something with your system until I can have someone else confirm the same behavior. Curious if the demo triggers the same thing, or if you’re able to run other games.
Hooray fr Team Fupoco being totally awesome!
Flattery will get you everywhere~~~~ XD
wooooooo I cant wait for the house of tail also isnt it almost the common ground to be a year old
Yup, was released March 1st, 2012.
aawww dude my birthday is march 7 you totally got to have house of tail done ..if you can …be a sweet birthday gift *wink wink* but still you guys are awesome I mean normally most people would have up and left the project and we would never hear from you guys again only thinking hey are they working on that game or not
Since it’s left to me to tease you guys, and I don’t like to tease, this has been tricky ^^;
Will try to post more about the game’s progress. And we’d love to have it ready for a birthday gift, though it might be a bit late~
