    Thanks for the resolution rundown, feeling somewhat more comfortable 🙂

    Am thinking… I don’t know. Can see ways to design for all the resolutions, though the lower end ones are a bit tiny (240×320 is close to old school DOS res!)

    Should add it’s very promising how a lot of the newer game engines and libraries are making it extremely easy to port games to mobile platforms.

    Well, if anyone has a phone with 240 x 320, then they aren’t using it to play games- I can tell you that much from experience. I had a Samsung Replenish (Actually, thats my currently dying phone.. I just use it as a tether to give my PC actual internet). It runs on a Pre-Snapdragon processor with the same cortex as a Snapdragon S2, yet muuuuuuch less powerful. (Runs a 600Mhz ARM 7). Don’t get me wrong, it did anything and everything I needed it to. It made a very good MP3 player, and of course a nice phone.

    But… with it running a stripped down Adreno GPU, and inable to play any flash or even GIF images in most instances… it wasn’t ideal.

    Oh, though before I continue- just remember Kaive: The Nintendo DS screens (seperately) were worse than that, while the bottom Nintendo 3DS screen runs at a 240×320 resolution. (The top running at 240×400 w/o 3D, and 240×800 effectively with 3D enabled)

    Gha, really having problems now. Something’s wrong with the Audio in Android 2.3.4 and 4.0.3 ; As well as the latency issue is starting to really get on my nerves ;n;

    I know its supposed to be fixed in Android 4.0.4+ (As I’ve seen first hand with FL Studio Mobile for Android), but most phones use version 4.0 and less >~<

    Maybe there’s a way to ask or send them to upgrade their version via the app? (Have been told 4.0.3 is the newest version, if so then am sure everyone will catch up when the next one’s released.)

    The 3DS screen resolution is amazing… explains a lot. Am sure the palette is much greater than the Gameboy Advance. Or at least I’d hope so. Easier to throw in the non-pixel art stuff without it looking off in small res.

    My phone plays a jingle when I open and close it~ Recently, have to shake it to get the arrow pad and OK button to work. May have to upgrade at some point :X

    The most recent version of Android is Jellybean (Android 4.1); 4.0.x is Ice Cream Sandwich (Android ICS)

    And no, you can not update the firmware through any app but the phone itself. Some phones aren’t compatible with newer versions of android- because its like upgrading the OS. Er.. no, it IS upgrading the OS. not ‘updating’.

    Most low-end to mid-range phones stop at Android 2.3.4 (Which is actually a fairly new update- at least the ‘.4’ is which updated the UI to make it look like a ‘mini/stripped’ version of Android ICS )

    —–

    The Game Boy Advance had just over 65,000 colors, and had a screen resolution of 240 x 160.

    The Nintendo DS displays over 262,000 colors at any given time and its resolution is a (dual) 256 x 192

    The Nintendo 3DS displays more than a million colors (Since its 32 bit, like most/all computers and smartphones today) and displays 400 x 240/ 800 x 240 3D on the top display, while the buttom displays 320 x 240

    Eugh Windows 8 REALLY does not like the Android SDK. I can set the perimeters to what I like, including CPU, RAM, GPU, all that nonsense.

    It just seems to dislike my laptop. When I set the GPU, it gets weirded out since I have both integrated graphics through my AMD A8-MX chipset, and then I have a dedicated Radeon HD6750M as well. so the emulator seems to crash when I run any apps (after a few minutes into any app. I’ve tested the Rockband .apk, Angry Birds .apk, and Dead Trigger .apk)

    Common Grounds doesn’t run too well >_>; I’ll only set it up once I get that running on my phone.

    Right now im in the process of transferring all of my current progress to my gf’s PC. maybe her PC will be more stable. Also I use the tablet there, so I can emulate the touch well enough.

    Windows 8 is already out? I’m so behind.

    I’m thinking about re-coding Common Grounds to work with Windows 8, and fix a minor installer issues as well. Oh and probably remove all the DLLs. Some computers don’t seem to like them at all.

    Don’t know what to think about Windows 8 yet…

    Having any luck with the other PC?

    I wish I could say I do. Most of the SDK files are corrupt :/

    and just a couple of the APK bits are as well- but I could fix them the moment I can get Android’s SDK running again. But for now, i’m taking a break. Its frustrating me.

    Also, Kaive- I want to send those new song files to you, but for some reason- I cant get in touch with you ;u;

    (by song files, I mean the .flp, not the MP3’s )

    Was just thinking it’s getting close to putting in some kind of music for House of Tail. Not quite there yet, but have tested sound to make sure it can work in-browser. Interestingly enough, have to include both mp3 and ogg versions of any file due to different browser support.

    Am sad that your Andriod progress is taking some hits. Programming is such a drag sometimes.

    You guys will figure it out ^.^
