May 17, 2012 at 7:14 am #770guess i should start off by saying hello….really nervous posting on here for some reason taking me about 30 mins just to come out with how to say hello. but i love common grounds as nerdy or odd as this is this is the 2nd game ive ever played that effected me, im kind of like how Andrew is other then i cook instead of write…but it helped me see how stupid ive been i with the whole dating thing that there are people out there that will like you even if your an ugly ducking…or im reading way to much into this game and sounding like an idiot, but i guess ether way thanks for the awesome game..now i shall go die of embarrassment and idk why i am

I’ve been accused of making ‘moral games’ or ‘heavily thematic’ stuff, and they’re mostly right. I try to avoid heavy handed or preachy stuff, but my favorite moments in video games are always those parts that really move you, and I’m always excited to see other people share this^^
Curious what the other game was!
For me, off the top of my head, I’m a super nerd for those gaming moments like… in Super Metroid where your baby metroid saves your life at the end, gets me every time ;_;
May 22, 2012 at 2:42 pm #781never really got to play much of the Metroid games, only played half of prime one until i got to a boss i cant beat for the life of me and the 3rd prime.
And the other game that really moved me was Tales of Symphonia dawn of the new world, it was a part early in the game when you meet one of the main antagonist? but he says “courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality” this really moved me and i started being more brave, as shy as i am this saying helps me push forward..until i get so embarrassed and go hide back in my room lol
Also cant wait until you make more games so i can shower you in money like a drug dealer giving me emotionally stirring crack aka video games, would also love to help with making the games but im mostly an idea man XD (made half a one with a friend )

I enjoyed Metroid Prime, but it didn’t carry the same weight as Super Metroid did to me. I remember playing a little, taking a long break, and coming back to it out of some obligation to finish.
Would love to make a rpg. Already have several design documents for a few. Would love to play Tales of Symphonia at some point. Favorite is Final Fantasy 6, I remember beating it and having this great feeling much like yours. Kind of a ‘zest for life’ get up and do things now!! vibe. Want to make a rpg that gives that.
May 25, 2012 at 4:05 pm #788Half made a game hehe, its still undone…we have different ideas he is all about game play and fuck story line and im more storyline with a strong follow up on game play so he argue more then work on it lol. as for looks just Google RPG Maker XP and you’ll find out how it looks like…i suck balls at drawing and so dose my friend so we just used the art it gave use. but we got the Starting area most of the towns made and some dungeons that need a little work. big reason we still aren’t done with it after half a year is because he wants to keep adding things other games haven’t and he has no idea how to put it into a game so he spends about a month trying to do it then gives up and thinks of another idea and so on and so on.
Im sure you would love Tales of Spymphonia though i think any one that has played it would say the same lol. never got to beat Final Fantasy 6…my rom would crash and delete all my save date
Cant wait to see your next game, if it is an RPG would also be awesome it if was also a dating-Sim that way you can make one of your part members your boyfriend…maybe even marry <3
also been meaning to ask is it just you that dose all this or do you have like a team behind you?

I believe I will have to second this. Reading this thread has reminded me that one of my favorite things is having my emotions stirred (to put it simply).I thought I should mention also that there is a dating sim rpg called Thousand Arms for the ps1. The only dating sim rpg that I know of, though it is hard to play because of wretched voice acting and humor that I enjoyed when I was like 13. Anyway, the part worth mentioning was the implementation of dating sim into the rpg. You’d basically have to get a girl to like you more for her to give you better upgrades. They’d all be in your party, but the main character was the only one that did any real fighting. I remember those girls being super hard to please, too. I’d buy one a bunch of presents, put on an act for her, then she wants me to guess her favorite color that she’s never talked about before, ruining my chance for extra power. It is very possible that I was just bad at it. Never could get the dating girls thing down right! ha..ha…
So, Kaive, do you have any plans as to how you’d be combining rpg and dating sim if you were to pursue such a thing?

I started making my own rpg/sim date game not too long ago, but it really ended up going nowhere before anything else. Having little experience at game making didn’t really help in matters of getting things to look and play like I wanted them to.
I was sorta gonna do an old retro one, like the type seen in games made in RPG maker. It was gonna be a bunch of characters in a town or two, all of which of course would be dateable and fuckable. Then I asked people if they wanted their fursonas to be a part of it and they quickly swamped in unsurprisingly lol. It was when I realised the conortations of what I had started, that I had to put it on permanent hold until I could find help.
May 30, 2012 at 5:13 pm #791Yours is the story of my rpg making life. I used to team up with people, but it hardly ever turned out well. Whry helps me a lot, and MadCatMax with audio and general input, but it’s mostly me. I’d rather it be about the games, so I didn’t want to name this KaiveCo XD
And you must share the link to your game whenever you can, would love to see it!!
If I ever make a game where you have to guess the girl’s favorite color… would be hilarious. Giving me some ideas here.
How I’d combine rpgs with a dating sim… there’s multiple options here. One I’m fond of, is to focus more on the dating sim side: it all takes place in a small area (town, forest, maybe one dungeon), and it’s more about building relationships there than traveling the world fighting huge alien monster empires.

Anything you could show us? Have been thinking of writing some articles on how to make these things, but I don’t want to say I’m an expert yet :X
