    Hehe. Just throwing my greeting out there, don’t quite know how active I’ll be around here, but I did want to compliment Kaive and the others on the amazing game. I find most of the characters extremely intriguing and their story lines interesting, a few parts really hit home as it is with probably quite a few people out there. I am eagerly awaiting more!

    On that same note, I wish I could make my own game! I am an artist (Not that great but I try!) though I have limited skill in any type of programming needed for making a game. But maybe someday! Till then I will keep watch and hope for more from everyone over here.

    It’s super casual here, so no worries about being active or not. I’ve been busy having a go with web game development and have felt like I’ve neglected the site for the past week or two ;_;

    What kind of game would you like to make? I’m getting the feeling that there’s a desire for some writings on how to make games quick and easy, (it’s never quick and easy…)

    Was just thinking a simple dating sim, similar to Common Grounds though a bit bigger. Sadly I have like no programming skills so it’s really down to needing that. It’s not so much that I want to make it quick and easy, I know it’s gonna take a while. But it’s just finding a way to make one that doesn’t require like lots of coding on my part. Also why I’m gonna try to find someone to help me.

    Generally, I just wanna see if I can get a base engine down that will allow me to learn it and easily add in and change things. But that’s a bit hard to find. =P

    This might be a bit late, (was out of town for a week,) but quite a few people have recommended http://www.renpy.org/ (a visual novel engine)

    It looks neat, but I’ve yet to find someone who has actually *used* it, so I don’t know.

    Btw, should link to some of your work (here or use the contact form,) I would love to see it 🙂

    Your gallery is very nice. Would love to see a dating sim with your characters, (and am sure so would a lot of other people!)

    If you need any help with the coding stuff, I don’t mind looking into that engine and seeing if I can make sense of it. Still curious how it works, have yet to form an opinion on it.

    Thanks. ^^ And I was checking out the program, it seems relatively simple to use but sadly it doesn’t allow .Gif’s or any type of animations which is a bit… Disappointing. Though I suppose it’s not that bad. I’ll give it a try in the future, give it a little test at least. I’m trying to figure out how to make it into a decent dating sim. Since I’ve never made one it’s kinda like, bleh, no clue how to make one work well. XD

    You have to have some kind of clue! XD

    They’re deceptively simple looking to make. I’d give some kind of general advice, but I keep writing these long ramblings that I don’t think will be very helpful.

    Well. I have some sort of a clue. XD But I need to get through commissions first or at least try to write a small script to test it on. SO, there will be a wait before I end up even getting it tried and tested. It looks really simple and it came with a rather lengthy Tutorial that was really helpful!

    Any help you can offer would be great. I’m an artist, not really much of a coder. =P So it’s mainly just getting down the plot points and such first, then doing a few poses and whatnot for the characters. Just still really bummed about the lack of animation, they do have some sort of animation thing but it’s one of those really complicated, frame per frame type things. So I’d have to draw every single frame of the animation and that is way to complicated for me.

    It’s partly cause I really wanted to have some sexy scenes, even if they were really simple animations, but sadly that’s not gonna happen with this program. *Sadface* Ah well, I’ll try to work on it soon. XD

    Ah! You mean animation like… wiggling a single frame or sliding them into view–that kind of stuff?

    My fellow fupoco cohort Whry, reminded me of this plan we had, where we’d release the engine for Common Grounds, so people could make their own dating sims with it. But it was scrapped as we didn’t think there’d be much interest and we wanted to get into other projects asap.

    You have me thinking it might be worth a week or two to release it with some examples. Hard to tell if anyone would care for it if I don’t put it out there first.

    You could always ‘cheat’. Am sure there’s a better word here, but basically, if you can show backdrops, and time them, could do an animation like that. Sure it would take up more space and seem awkward in the code, but the player won’t mind! A common one is to do the ‘pre-insertion’ -> one text box -> ‘insert & sound FX’. While not continuous animation, better than nothing.

    Really looking forward to anything you make. I will wait till the end of times if I have to!! XD

    Nah. I mean like actual .Gif animations, blinking, moving tail, ect. And the problem is that Renpy doesn’t use those and there’s no plan to implement it later either. :\

    I wouldn’t mind checking it out, but I’m gonna attempt with Renpy first cause at least it has lots of tutorials and the like. XD Just waiting to get some free time between commissions. I believe they also have dating sim like templates but they look… Complicated, really really complicated. Sooo, I’ll see what I can do.
