Ok so I have been searching the internet(and iterwebz, and the deepweb, everywhere really) and have yet to find an excellent furry rpg using modern game mechanics(there are a few remade ones, but nothing new recently) and while there have been games from other genres that are good(HoT, Nimin, etc) I have yet to see a recently made furry rpg out on the internet(have been playing inherit the earth and some excellent mods for Morrowind, but again, either old or not furry games without the modding community) so does anyone know of any furry rgps out there, preferrably with a link(or at least a general direction for them, got to Fupoco from an old torrent of common grounds demo) does Fupoco have anything planned? Or would I be better off trying to figure out how to make graphics on the Unity3D and/or rpg maker? Text based ones are easy to make, but sometimes graphics do count for something 😛

We’d love to make one, but we’re pretty booked at the moment. (You should totally do one~)

It’s hard to find indie furry games in general. I’d like to make a list of adult ones. Assuming you mean explicit ones or furry rpgs in general? Either way, am drawing blanks. Would love to find more too.

Lol assumuing I found the time to make a non-textbased one, I’m unsure how it would turn out(only ever got anywhere on graphics with Nifskope and blender myself, they’re very useful for modding) text based isn’t difficult, but Nimin( http://nimin.wikia.com/wiki/Nimin_Wiki ) already has a good start on that, and I would rather have more Morrowind style, or maybe a top down style like Fallout 1, 2, and Tatics had, but the problem with that are the outdated game engines(might be able to reverse engineer openmw and/or grab something from the modding community for that tho) but there are plenty of traditional ones out there ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_furry_role-playing_games ) and some others that look interesting ( like this one: http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Tser_of_Atled but I never got around to figuring out moonrunes and I don’t know Japanese) Wikifur sometimes has links, but more often then not has link rot…Would love to see Inherit The Earth 2 though but idk if it will ever get going ( http://www.wyrmkeep.com/forums/index.php?topic=442.0 ) the original Inherit the earth is avaible for emulators(like Scummvm) or in cd format for purchase(I still like emulators better tho, but they do have an updated soundtrack avaible also) but yeah, might just be better to try making a few myself and see where it goes(it will take a loooong while lol) and as for furry adult rpgs/furry rpgs in general, well there kann be both 😛 but I’m not picky really, just would be nice to see some new ideas even in the far west(Russia doesn’t count lol they made the Metro series).

That’s a neat list, reminding me of a lot of games I had forgotten about!

RPGs take a ton of time and resources. Stories are big, lots of dialogue, lots of areas to explore, scripted attacks, enemy and dungeon design, and so forth. Not the easiest type of game to start out making, but not impossible.

If we were to do one, I’d keep it to a few areas. Like how Diablo only uses one town and one dungeon entrance. Would focus more on character interaction, (as it’d be adult,) exploring the same area for secrets and new scenes, and less on battles and traveling the world.

True, but if it were done in a similar manner to Morrowind(more areas, but less speific areas whitin cells ie “empty worldspaces” while still having interesting background textures, and small areas to explore such as caves, ruins, etc.) would enable much more game content, while still being able to focus on character interaction(of all sorts lol) really the real issue would be more how to do something like this on more modern engines, while still retaining good graphics(thinking it might be easier to have a 16 bit overlay for graphics, while having particular interactions/scripted events in more modern graphics, maybe bringing up a menu seperate from in-game graphics while in character interactions and scripted events?) and being an rpg, it would of course have to have a fulfilling plot(taking creative writing classes next seimester, so its a start lol) least to say though, something like this would have to be years in the making(and funding is another question, would it be crowd funded(like kickstarter) or would it just be open sourced(like a side project, free, but take much longer to complete) as well as how large of a project(given it would just be one game, and my first one with graphics at that, these wouldn’t be any real issues, more so something to think about for long term) but yeah I also like the top down third person view of Diablo games(and Diablo clones) but as a true rpg(and a furry one at that) I would prefer to not have it focused on combat, I suppose on a similar manner to resident evil for the combat intregration(where combat is an intregrated part, but not the most focused upon, and kann even be avoided altogether) so yeah, brainstorming I guess? XD

Avanti, are you sure you want an rpg and not just an exploration game? Either way, I wouldn’t be able to point out any modern furry games, I’m totally out of touch.
If you went down the path of making your own, then that’s great and good luck. You also don’t have to have combat at all. You don’t even have to have items. You don’t even have to have dialogue! Removing such things won’t necessarily make anything easier, though.

If anything, it would probably be more akin to an exploration game with heavy reliance on rpg elements, as for removing combat, that might work if it were made in more of a puzzle/exploring game(kind of along the lines of myst I guess) which would allow more time for developing the plot, but it would be in a different overall design(might be something to try out though).

Map making, where it’s not randomly generated (and even then…) takes a lot of effort to design. I know a friend who has spent the past 4+ years of his life working on the same game, because he decided it’d be about exploring 300+ maps. 2d game, and this is merely layout and design as he had someone else provide graphics. Works on it everyday.

For larger feeling games, have to go modular. So it’s not outside the realm of possibility for a small crew, but you do have to be smart about it. Like shared texture sets, lots of re-use. Even then… people like Wolfire (Overgrowth guys) do a lot of what we’re talking about, been working on it since who knows when. Love their ambition and what they’ve accomplished, but not something I’d want to fall into (house of tail is getting dangerously close.)

Even the old console classics, there’s a lot of re-use for towns, houses–shared map sets. Shortcuts like how Final Fantasy games would handle the overworld maps, would do things like that.

You mentioned Morrowind, which reminded me of when I played Oblivion. I stopped playing it because my computer is far from great, so I lag, but it was a good game.

If you’re looking for adult mods, and are into heavy kinks, there’s a website call loverslab which has a fantastic set of mods, adding a LOT of things. You should probably stay away if you aren’t up for some nitty-gritty work modding, since the mods can be kind of picky about how you install them.

@Kaive lol yeah, it would need t reuse a lot f the textures and meshes(custom making everything just simply isn’t possible, unless you’d want to spend 20+ years working on it, already spent 5 on a different project which is only starting to work due to advances in Cleverscript(think voice responsive AI pathing) but it might not even make it to Alpha at this rate lol) and @Vashar I’m already on Loverslab(my user is thedarkwanderer42 haven’t logged in for 2 months tho) and yeah, had to go into Blender and Nifskope to get some working, r messed around with script extenders(if I still have some old scripts around on a flash drive, they might come in handy over there, modified Blender to work more with Skyrim when there was severe issues with that, plus I have resource files that I didn’t find on there again the last time I was there) there was a few furry mods I saw over at the nexus(including ne for Skyrim which added a custom playable anthro-canine race) but for furry mods on Morrowind, here’s one of my more favored sites http://www.sabregirl.com/mods/ often play as a Keynari or a Wolven myself.
